Artist Biography
George Richard Deakins was born in Gosport and served with the Royal Navy from 1927 - 1957. He began painting while serving on a British cruiser in the Indian Ocean during the 2nd World War and had a very distinctive thick impasto style. Deakins enjoyed much commercial success and had numerous one man shows all around the world. On leaving the Navy he set his studio up in Dunster - Somerset.
