Artist Biography
George Richard Deakins was born in 1911, and is best-known for his expressive oils, often completed using a palette knife. Self-taught, he was born in Gosport of a naval family. Deakins served with the Royal Navy for 22 years from 1927 and during this time he exhibited throughout the world, with over 60 one-man shows. When he retired he opened a studio at Dunster, Somerset, where he lived until his death.
