Description

A charming scene depicting a mother and daughter strolling the parameter of a countryside village with a creek running through the centre. Signed and dated to the lower right. On watercolour sketching board.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Mount burn and one minor tear to the outer edges of the painting.

Artist Biography

A North Shields painter of landscapes in both oil and watercolour. After practising in Newcastle where he regularly exhibited at the Bewick Club during the 1880's and 1890's he moved to the Thames Valley residing at Shepperton. He is recorded as having exhibited at the RBA and RI and he died at Amesbury, Wiltshire. He should not be confused with George Deane Oyston they are different artists.
