George Oyston, circa 1860-1937, was born in North Shields, the son of an engineer, and by 1880 was working as a professional artist in his native town. He exhibited frequently at the Berwick Club in Newcastle. By 1891, he was living in London, before moving to Walton on Thames, and then to Shepperton-on-Thames, also in Surrey, by 1897.
He exhibited 1 painting at the Royal Society of British Artists and 1 at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour. Some of his work has been issued in print form.
