George Haller - Fine 19th Century Oil Going Fishing

Description

A Victorian oil painting by the listed artist George Haller depicting a figure holding a rod walking down a woodland path towards a river. It has been signed to the lower left corner in red and is presented in a heavy and ornate gilt frame. The frame is typical of the style in which George Haller's painting are always mounted. Signed. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

There is general craquelure scattered throughout the picture. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of restoration. There is a repair to the centre of the picture but this is not visible from the front. There is a small area of paint restoration to the right side (over the tree in the background). There is some staining and surface gilt loss to the inner slip of the frame. Very minor cracking to the moulding on the frame but the overall appearance of the frame is good.
