A charming countryside landscape, with cattle grazing in the foreground. Signed and dated to the lower left. Well presented in a textured gilt-effect frame with a washline mount. On watercolour paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing. Minor wear and scuffs to the frame. Slight discolouration, foxing, and dirtying to the mount.

Artist Biography

George Graham was a painter and wood engraver born in Leeds. He studied for two years to become an architect, taking drawing lessons in the evenings at Leeds School of Art. He then studied at the London School of Art. A prolific exhibitor at both London and provincial exhibitions, he became a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Watercolour Society, and Royal Society of Arts. Graham also exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, and New English Art Club.
