Painter born in Leeds, Yorkshire who studied at the National Art Training School [later Royal College of Art] in South Kensington, London. He subsequently worked primarily as a painter and an educator and was head of Thanet Art School in Margate, Kent. The 1911 census records him as ' Director Of Art Education Thanet'. This was quite an elevation from the 1891 census where Duxbury is recorded as an 'apprentice frame carver' living in Lancaster. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1914 and 1926. Duxbury is associated with a little-known village about 7 miles north-east of Leeds called Barwick-in-Elmet. Here circa 1900 a group of artists, illustrators and writers rented a cottage as a weekend retreat. There they discussed art and literature. The Group who were also connected with the Leeds Savage Club comprised many well-known artists such as Owen Bowen, Mark Senior, Edwin Reeve Crosse, writers Edmund Bogg and Holbrook Jackson and many others.
