Sulis Fine Art is excited to present this interesting art deco frame, containing a postcard inscribed and signed by the Irish playwright, critic, polemicist and political activist George Bernard Shaw. The postcard was written at his home in Ayot St Lawrence, also known as Shaw's Corner. Bernard Shaw and his wife relocated permanently to the address during the London Blitz (1940-41).
The message reads 'Thousand thanks for most welcome gift and for remembrance. Fearful quarrel with my secretary. She says there is navy blue in it. I can see only green, red line and black. Which of us is colour blind? G. Bernard Shaw'. Addressed to a Captain J.S. Paterson at 153 Waterloo Road, Birkdale, Southport. With the date 5/9/1941. Also with the original 2nd class postage stamp.
Signed.The postcard has been well preserved. With some discolouration to the reverse.
