A pretty late 19th Century landscape in oil showing an autumnal woodland with a mother and daughter walking along the woodland path. The artist has signed to the lower left and the painting has been presented in a handsome late 19th Century gilt frame with laurel and berry molding and palm leaf low relief strap work. The frame is finished with a gilt slip. On canvas.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.

Artist Biography

George A. Boyle (1842-1932) was a little-known painter who showed at the RA, RBA, ROI and the 1901 census records him as living in Lewisham, London, where he died. Examples of Boyle's paintings are held by Erewash Borough Council, Museums Sheffield, and the William Morris Gallery.
