Artist Biography

Geoffrey Norman Burrows (1934-2023) was a British figurative painter working in oil and watercolour, best known for landscapes, still life and coastal scenes of his native Norfolk. Born near Norwich, England, he was educated at Paston Grammar School in North Walsham and spent his working life in telecommunications. Largely self-taught, mainly through close study of Constable's sketches at the V&A, he took up painting after an art class at Sprowston School and began exhibiting seriously in the late 1960s, in London and further afield. He showed at the Mall Galleries with the Federation of British Artists, and was a regular contributor to the Royal Norfolk Show's art exhibition for four decades, last exhibiting there in 2015.
