Description

A charming depiction of the Micklegate Bar, one of the four medieval gates of the City of York. The gate was once the main entrance to the city from anyone traveling from the south and would often be the gate that the monarch would pass through if visiting York. Signed, titled and dated to the lower corners. Presented in a simple gilt frame. On paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is light foxing to the edges of the painting.
