A placid and calm rooftop view over Rome with a soft, hazy morning sunlight illuminating the tiled buildings. The artist has signed to the lower right and inscribed at the reverse with the title of the painting (in German) and their name. On board.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some wear to the outer edges of the board. Some abrasion to the signature.

Artist Biography

Fritz Mühlbrecht (1880-1956) was a German paint and graphic artist.
Mühlbrecht was the son of the Prussian publisher and bookseller Otto Mühlbrecht (1838-1906). From 1901 he studied landscape, figure and interior painting at the Munich Art Academy under Ludwig von Herterich and Franz von Stuck . Some of his works have been published in Jugend magazine. He also worked as a bookplate artist .
