A delightful scene of childhood innocence by the Danish artist Fritz Gotfred Thomsen (1819-1891), who specialised in animal paintings. A young girl sits in the doorway of a barn with a kid in her lap, whilst the mother goat sits contentedly beside her. Faintly signed to the lower left. Well presented in an ornate gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
The condition is very good for a picture of this age, with good retention of colour. Scuffs, cracking, and some small losses to the frame.
