A charming early 19th-century portrait of a French lady, elegantly dressed in a deep red gown and elaborate lace bonnet. The sitter is presented in a formal half-length pose, her composed expression and carefully rendered features capturing the quiet dignity of the period. Particularly striking is the intricate lace bonnet, with its delicate ruffles and ribbon ties framing the sitter's face and contrasting beautifully with the rich red of her dress. Condition

Fine craquelure observed throughout. Minor surface marks and abrasions. A light, even patina of age is present across the surface of the artwork. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. The frame has minor surface wear and scuffs. Small chips and indentations to the frame. Stable cracking to the frame. Minor flakes of paint loss at the upper left corner and scattered across the canvas – however, this is very minor. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
