Cooke served in the army during the Great War, later becoming a dental surgeon like his father. Interested in music, photography and painting, he was a member of the Manchester Graphics Club, the Warrington Art Society and the Photographic Society.
We are delighted to have acquired this charming collection by the artist and photographer Frederick P. Cooke (1896-1978). Cooke served in the army during the Great War, later becoming a dental surgeon, like his father. Cooke was interested in music, photography and painting, especially figurative works and portraiture. He was a member of the Manchester Graphics Club, the Warrington Art Society and the Photographic Society.
He worked in a variety of mediums, and the collection includes an array of subjects and styles, comprising expressive figure studies and vibrant landscape scenes, as well as studies of the female form and conversational interior views.
