Frederick John England (b. 1939) is a British artist, designer, teacher, and gallery proprietor, born in London. He studied at Brighton College of Art in 1956, where his teachers included Raymond Cowern, Charles Knight, and Ernest Sallis Benney. He continued his studies in Norway in 1960 and at London University in 1961 under Ronald Horton. England later taught at Leek School of Art. He served as president of the Society of Staffordshire Artists and was a member of the Free Painters and Sculptors. His work was exhibited widely, including at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (RI), the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA), across the provinces, and internationally at the Paris Salon, where he was awarded both silver and gold medals. Solo exhibitions included shows at the Octagon Gallery in Bolton, the University of Keele, and venues abroad. England’s work is held in public collections, including Stoke-on-Trent City Museum and Art Gallery. He lived in Leek, Staffordshire, where he ran his own gallery.
