A watercolour and body colour view from the south west across the white cliffs by Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Signed and dated to the lower-left corner. The title has been taken from a previous frame and inscribed on the verso of the painting. On wove.

Artist Biography

Frederick Barry (fl.1826-1867) was a painter of marine and coastal scenes in addition to genre, landscape, and game subjects. He lived in London and from 1848 lived in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. He exhibited three works at the Royal Academy from 1848-1849, eight works at the British Institution, and forty-three works at the Society of British Artists.
