Original 1829 Album. Signed and dated and inscribed. An 1829 Album of Great Historical Importance compiled by Alexandrine Percival Ouseley, probably the daughter of Sir William Gore Ouseley Bt. and older sister of Sir Frederick Arthur Gore Ouseley. It appears to be a tribute to her brother Frederick. The album contains a dated and inscribed 1829 signature of Washington Irving, 4 original musical scores written by Frederick Ouseley dated 1830 when he was 5 years old (presumably transcribed by others), and original literary contributions, all handwritten and signed.. There is an original manuscript poem by Walter Watson in honour of Frederick and dated 1832. There is an original poem in honour of Frederick by General Sir William Hutchinson dated 1831 which begins: Blessed boy of all miracles from first to last, by none present equalled, excelled by none past…There is a lengthy poem about Frederick written and signed by Catherine Crowe signed and dated Clifton 1832. There is a short piece signed G.O. presumably her father, Gore Ouseley. There are a couple of drawings. Several pages have been excised. There are a few pages written in a Arabic, and several other pages where I cannot read the handwriting or signatures. The leather album cover is worn but intact, the binding is largely intact and the pages are gilt edged. Several pages have been excised.
