Artist Biography

Born in Marseille in 1951 and raised in Provence, Frédéric Pierre studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Aix-en-Provence before moving to England, where he refined his printmaking skills at Reading University and Chelsea Art School. He later taught etching and serigraphy at Reading and became a member of the Printmakers Council of Great Britain. In the late 1980s, Pierre left academia to focus fully on his art, developing a poetic and expressive visual style. Best known for his drypoint etchings and mixed media works, he often integrates handwritten titles, vivid colour, and layered imagery. His influences range from surrealist poetry to contemporary music and German expressionism. Pierre has exhibited widely in Europe, with works held in public collections in the UK and Sweden.
