Artist Biography
Freddy Wittop (1911-2001) was born in Holland and began his career as an apprentice designer at the Opera House in Brussels at the age of eleven. He later moved to Paris and then the USA to pursue his career further. In America, Wittop’s costume credits include creations for 'Hello Dolly', for which he won a Tony Award, and 'Happy Time', for which he won a Tony nomination. He also designed the American Ballet Theatre’s production of 'Swan Lake' and 'Boris Godounoff' for the City Centre Opera.
