Sheffield born painter mainly of seascapes who taught locally in Sheffield. Frank Saltfleet was a protégé of John Ruskin he exhibited in London at the FAS where he held a solo exhibition in 1900. Saltfleet went on to study at the Antwerp Academy of Art and afterwards travelled around Europe painting the landscape as he went. He taught Harry Epworth Allen and was a member of and President of the Sheffield Society of Artists. After returning to Sheffield after his travels, he was elected member of the Sheffield Society of Artists and was made President, 1894-95. During World War I Saltfleet entertained the troops with a ventriloquist act. As one would expect Museums Sheffield has examples.
