An interesting gouache of a circus scene from listed artist Frank Humphrey Allen (1896-1977). Depicting two clowns and a horse performing. The artists name and address is written on the reverse (as shown in photos). Inscribed on the reverse.On wove.Condition
Paint losses to the lower right corner, due to water damage. A dent to the paper is visible in the blue triangle. A watermark is visible along to lower edge of the paper. Surface scratches and spots of discolouration visible in the photos.

Artist Biography
Born in London, Frank Humphrey Allen is a well known listed artist. During the 1930s and 1940s, Allen studied his craft and took part in exhibitions with a variety of well known artists from the era. After WWII Frank left London, and moved to Norfolk, seeking a quieter lifestyle. He continued to practice painting until his death in 1977.
