With body colour. A charming watercolour woodland scene by listed British artist Frank H. Walker. The artist has perfectly captured the texture of wet grass in the foreground by scratching highlights into the wet paint. Walker's delicate handling of the watercolour medium gives the piece a wintery quality. The sensitive depiction of individual tree branches has been achieved with a very fine brush and keen eye for detail. Well presented in a washline mount and ornate rococo style swept frame with floral corner pieces and scallop shell decoration. Signed. On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is also scattered foxing, most visible to the sky area. With a loss to the upper edge of the frame and a rebuilt corner to the upper left.
