The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing. There is some surface dirt and heavy wear to the upper edge including tears and losses. The original plate lines are in tact.

Engraver. Born in Abbeville. Younger brother of Jacques (q.v.) with whom he worked as a young man before settling in London about 1756. Worked with Robert Strange, and later Boydell. Opened a drawing school. In 1760 had an alliance with Robert Edge Pine to produce prints after his paintings. Killed by a falling stone in Greek Street.
