Francis Sydney Unwin (1885-1925) - Signed Sepia Original Late 19th Century Watercolour. Signed twice lower right. In a washline mount and a gilt frame with green tint. Signed. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing. Paper remnants to edges of image, probably from the previous mount.

Francis Sydney Unwin moved to London when young and developed a lasting love of the city whose buildings were to provide the subjects of some of his finest etched works. A highly temperamental individual, F.S.Unwin would occasionally destroy large sections of his work; as a consequence, much of his work is now scarce. His moods were much affected by his persistent ill health, as he suffered from tuberculosis for many years – ultimately, his career was cut short by his death at the age of 40 from consumption.
