Description

As dusk falls over the highland lock, the artist captures the warm glow that the last rays of sun shine upon the mountain faces. Using a realist style, the artist presents an autumnal scene with shedding trees and jewelled colours. Signed using a pseudonym 'Joel Owens' to the lower right. Presented in a gilt frame with foliate running patterns. On canvas.

Condition

Some minor scuffing to the corners of the frame. the canvas has been relined.

Artist Biography

Painter in oil and watercolour of Highland and Coastal scenes. Jamieson was a prolific painter who often signed with pseudonyms such as 'Phil Hips', 'Joel Owens', 'Graham Williams', 'W. Richards' and 'Arnold Pienne'. His oils were most commonly of Loch or Highland landscapes. Jamieson travelled widely throughout the country between the wars selling his paintings. His work was often in a more traditional Victorian style and his pictures were reproduced as postcards by Ajelli and Co of London around 1920.
