A detailed genre scene depicting three Chelsea Pensioners in scarlet uniform, enjoying the sound of music on the ward. The ornate gilt frame, with its intricate acanthus ornament, beautifully complements the painting, creating a striking contrast between the opulent border and the intimate scene within. Signed with initials to the lower right. On board.
Condition
Inspection under UV light reveals minor overpainting to the oil. There is a small loss to the upper right-hand corner of the frame. However, the overall condition of the artwork is very good.
