Framed Mid 20th Century Oil - Rowing Boat on the Canal

Description

A tranquil waterside scene depicting a small rowing boat moored beside a wooden footbridge, surrounded by verdant trees and dappled reflections in the water. Executed in an impressionistic style with loose, expressive brushwork. Well presented in an ornate gilt frame that complements its pastoral character. Illegibly signed lower left. On canvas laid to board.

Condition

Minor surface marks and abrasions to the left-hand side of the composition. A light, even patina of age is present across the surface of the artwork. The painting is slightly unfinished to the right-hand edge. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. The frame has minor surface wear and scuffs. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
