A charming Victorian watercolour study showing a hilly landscape with rural English cottages and a winding river visible to the foreground. The delicate brushwork and muted colour palette is typical of the English School style. The artwork has been inscribed with partial legibility on the reverse 'from the bridge' and dated 'May/33' probably by a contemporary framer. Well presented in a washline mount and simple gilt effect frame. On watercolour paper.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There are foxing spots, scuffing and a crease to the lower left corner of the artwork. With surface scuffing and losses to the edges of the frame.
