Description
A charming late 19th century oil depicting two enthusiastic anglers waiting for a bite on their cast rod. A young child can be scene on the left, paused in anticipation of the catch. Completing the composition is a cluster of village houses sat in close proximity to the local church and old stone bridge. Unsigned. The rural scene has been well presented in a glazed gilt frame with lambs tongue & egg and dart running pattern. On canvas.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration caused by a buildup of surface dirt. Inspection under UV light reveals some craquelure to the surface of the painting. Signs of wear to the gilt frame includes minor scuffs and scratches on all members.
