Blue skies hidden by scumbled mountains and clouds overlook a quiet lake. Full of autumnal hues, this marvellous oil holds a subdued character. The artwork has various inscriptions in graphite on the lower stretcher bar, but these are unfortunately illegible.
The painting's subject appears to be of either Scottish or the Lake District, but given the faded nature of the inscription we cannot be sure.
The painting is well presented in a decadently molded and gilded wood frame with a gilded slip.
On canvas on stretchers.The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is a small amount of craquelure to the bottom left and right-hand quadrants.
