Description

A beautiful early 20th-century interior study of Saint-Séverin Church in Paris. Rebuilt and enlarged between the 15th and 17th centuries in the Flamboyant Gothic style, it served as the parish church for students at the University of Paris and is one of the oldest churches remaining on the Left Bank. Here the artist captures the magnificent cross-vaulted ceiling and polychrome stained glass windows with natural light streaming through. Presented in a handsome gilt-effect frame with a painted cove. Illegibly signed to the lower left with a large provenance label inscribed in German on the verso. On panel.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including some light marks and surface scratches to the painting. These can be seen to the upper left-hand corner and lower third. Light wear noted to the frame. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.
