A charming early 19th-century watercolour of a stone bridge crossing with smoking townhouses across the river. Two gentleman can be seen to the foreground with a wheelbarrow and several long-handled tools at the ready, talking through the task in hand. The composition has been left unsigned. Well-presented in a wash-line mount and gilt-effect frame. On paper.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Later touches of body color have been added to the sky. The frame and mount are in fine condition.
