The scene recalls the pastoral charm of George Morland, with a distant church set against rolling countryside, emphasising the moral virtue of rural life. Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age, including discolouration and foxing to the paper. The paper has been laid to another sheet, painted in a red watercolour wash. Wear to the frame leaves it with a distressed finish.
