An original early 19th Century oil depicting a village church in the county of Derbyshire, England. The style is typical for the period, depicting an honest English landscape setting with a distant church spire and surrounding natural forms. Two figures are depicted in the lower half, perhaps enjoying the view. Well-presented in a swept gilt wooden frame with ornate corner mouldings and floral motif. Unsigned. On panel.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some surface discolouration and craquelure. Light wrinkling to the surface in places, due to the age of the work and the artist's process. Inspection under UV light reveals some small areas of surface restoration around the edges. The frame is in very good condition, with some minor marks around the edges.
