A fine original Victorian watercolour with graphite details, depicting a monk or elderly gentleman in a small white cap in profile. The artist clearly had a proficiency in the subject, imparting a realistic sense of character and a contemplative mood. Well-presented in a gilt mount and gilt wooden frame, as shown. Unsigned. In good condition overall, for a picture of this age. There are some minor spots of discolouration to the upper and right edge of the picture. Some discolouration to the mount, and surface scratches and scuffs to the frame, as shown.
