Framed 19th Century Oil - School Stallion with Groom

Description

A classical 19th-century Continental oil depicting a groom training a school stallion inside a dimly lit stable, illuminated by warm chiaroscuro light playing across the straw-covered floor. The painting is housed in a fine antique gilt frame with an acanthus running pattern. Illegibly signed lower right. On millboard.

Condition

Minor surface marks and abrasions to the oil. Small, localised losses to the paint layer (left-hand edge). Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. The frame has minor surface wear and scuffs. Small losses to the frame moulding/running pattern. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
