Framed 19th Century Oil - Fishing by the Lodge

Description

Perched on a rock, a fisherman casts his line into the river in this idyllic pastoral scene. A bridge spans the water, leading towards a distant lodge, whilst towering trees recede into the hazy distance. Well presented in a gilt frame with floral corner ornamentation. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Discolouration to the paint and areas of overpainting; however, the coverall condition is good. Stable cracking to the frame. Evidence of woodworm, which has been treated.
