An elderly figure leans on their walking stick as they descend a dark staircase into a cobbled street in this atmospheric nineteenth-century oil. Well presented in an antique gilt frame. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age, including some discolouration and craquelure. Areas of overpainting. Marks, scuffs, and small losses to the frame leave it with a distressed finish.
