Description
A delightfully original 19th Century oil depicting a young boy and a dog on a step. The dog is dressed creatively in Scottish apparel, with a feathered cap and sword, while the child feeds him from a spoon. In a typically 19th Century manner, the style and setting is suggestive of a continental city, possibly Italian. The boy appears to have an injured foot, with his stick and hat leaning against the wall. Well-presented in a flourishing acanthus gilt wooden frame with pierced detailing. Unsigned.Condition
In good condition overall, for a picture of this age. Several areas of bitumen deformation caused by the metal substrate, which have been professionally restored, leaving a textured surface. The frame is in very good condition, with light corner scuffing.
