Description

This delightful 19th century drawing depicts foragers at the entrance to Dryburgh Abbey, now pictured in ruins. First established in 1150, Dryburgh became the premier house in Scotland of the Premonstratensian order. Now foragers can be seen filling their baskets with cutting and berries, surrounded by the Abbey's crumbling walls. The intricate sketch has been well-presented in a wash-line mount and fine gilt frame. Unsigned. On paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration to the paper and card mount.
