A delightful 19th century needlework sampler portraying floral and fauna. The artist has used a variety of stitches including french knot, satin stitch, stem stitch, and so on to depict colourful flowers, birds and snails, filling the canvas. The textile piece has been well presented in a charming hard wood frame with a delicate gilt window under glazing. Unsigned. On linen.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration to the cotton threads and linen canvas. The heavy wood frame is in a good condition with minimal scratch marks. There is some debris caught under the glazing to the lower right corner.
