A fine 18th century classical scene in oil, depicting two putti wrapped in a diaphanous piece of cloth. Undoubtedly part of a larger scene, this may be a study from an altarpiece or fresco. Well presented in a 19th century gilt slip, with a fine patina of age. Unsigned. On canvas laid to board.
Condition
In typical condition for a picture of this age. There is some surface restoration, with light stable craquelure to some areas. The gilt slip has surface marks and scuffing, with very small losses to the corners.
