Description

A stylised botanical engraving from the work 'The Culture of Flowers', published in 1633 by the Italian Jesuit scholar Giovanni Battista Ferrari. The print depicts a detailed study of an Amaryllis. The ribbon winding through the stems carries the Latin inscription 'the magnitude of the same flower and its sheath', indicating that the illustration is life-size. The botanical work has been beautifully presented in a slim mid-20th-century frame. On laid.

Condition

Light foxing noted to the laid paper. The frame has light surface wear, including small scuffs and scratches. Overall, the print is in very good condition for its age.
