A remarkable highland scene captured in the style of Belgian Romantic painter Daniel-Adolphe Robert-Jones (1806–1874). A traditional gillie guide is depicted riding in his gillie suit, set against a majestic loch with mountain peaks beyond. His dog sits to heel, awaiting his next command. The work is beautifully presented in a bold ebonised and wood veneer frame with a ripple running pattern. Bears the signature 'Jones' lower left; however, we do not believe this is an original work by Daniel-Adolphe Robert-Jones (1806–1874). Also bears a brass plaque. On canvas.
Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age. Fine craquelure observed throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of previous restoration. The frame has minor surface wear and scuffs. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
