A very fine late 19th Century scene in oil, with figures in Bavarian dress, seated near a window in an interior. The artist has depicted a young couple doting on each other, in layered and colourful clothing, with simple furniture and ivy behind them. Their friendly and rather rosy complexions are typical of this style and period. The artist has a fine technique, and a clear proficiency in the medium. Overall, a charming and endearing work.
On tin. There is an illegible signature to the lower right corner. Presented in a gilt wooden slip, as shown.
In good condition overall. There is some minor abrasion around the edges of the painting, due to previous framing. Inspection under UV light reveals some small spots of restoration to the corners. The slip has scuffing to the corners.
