Fine Late 19th Century Oil - Still Life with Samovar
Description
An accomplished still life in the Dutch tradition, depicting a richly adorned table set with fine objects including a brass planter, delicate Delftware, and an ornate Russian samovar. The artist masterfully captures the glint of light reflecting off the metallic surfaces, while a dark, velvety background heightens the drama of the composition. Every detail is rendered with precision, from the intricate pattern of the tablecloth to the fragile petals of the flowers in the vase. Unsigned. Original label to the stretchers verso. Well presented in a decorative gilt frame with acanthus running pattern. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
The condition is typical for a painting of this age, including some discolouration to the varnish and fine craquelure throughout. There is a light scratch to the lower left. The canvas has been relined. Inspection under UV light reveals small areas of overpainting. Overall the artwork is in good condition for its age. Some wear to the frame including scuffs, chips and stable cracking. The frame has undergone previous restoration work, including a fill to the lower right of the frame.
