A well composed watercolour study of sailing ships caught in rough seas. Smaller rowing boats appear to be rowing towards the larger boats, perhaps rescuing the crew of a stricken ship. Inscription to the reverse of the frame reads 'Formerly in the collection of Mr M.G. Baldwin, Middleton Village, Ilkley, 1965'. On watercolour paper.
