An attractive late 19th century English School pastoral scene, with sheep huddled in the snow before a farmstead. This is a typical Victorian scene which was highly fashionable during that period. Often artists would capture similar scenes in different seasons, which could then be framed and hung side by side. Unsigned.
Condition
The painting has been relined - the original canvas was trimmed and laid to a later canvas on stretchers. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. There are a few tiny spots of surface dirt typical of a painting this age, but overall the condition is good.
