A very fine early 19th Century watercolour with gouache details, depicting a gentleman in a green coat, riding a horse near the coast. Two further horses are shown in the distance, and the overall work has a distinct style of the period. The artist had a clear proficiency in the medium, and the pigmentation has survived remarkably well for such an old work. On handmade wove paper. Unsigned.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is a small loss to the upper right corner, and some other marks around the edges. Light surface abrasion, and creasing to the right side.
